Hello, and thank you for visiting YL On The Air!

My name is Dee Nolét (KE2FAI), and I'm an Amateur Radio operator proudly operating from the beautiful Southern Adirondacks of New York.

Like many operators, my journey into amateur radio started with curiosity. What began as an interest quickly grew into a passion for learning, exploring new technologies, making contacts around the world, and discovering the incredible community that amateur radio offers.

As I continued learning, I realized that many women who are interested in amateur radio simply need a welcoming place to begin. 

That's why I created YL On The Air.

YL On The Air exists to inspire, educate, and connect women in amateur radio while welcoming anyone who shares a passion for learning and communication.

Whether you're:

• Thinking about earning your first amateur radio license,
• Studying for your next license upgrade,
• Setting up your first station,
• Exploring digital modes like DMR or AllStar,
• Operating portable during Field Day or POTA,
• Or you've been licensed for years...

I hope you'll find useful information, encouragement, 

and a sense of community here.

Every day I'm learning something new.

From building my home station and operating portable from mountaintops to experimenting with digital technologies and emergency communications, amateur radio continues to challenge and inspire me.

One of my favorite experiences each year is ARRL Field Day, where operators come together to practice emergency communications while sharing knowledge, friendship, and the excitement of making contacts from temporary stations.

You'll find many stories throughout this website about my own adventures, successes, and even the occasional mistake—because we all learn from each other.

When I'm not on the air, you'll often find me exploring the Adirondacks with a camera in hand.

Nature photography has been a lifelong passion, and many of the images throughout this website were taken during my travels through the mountains, forests, lakes, and trails of upstate New York.

I believe both photography and amateur radio have something in common—they connect us with people, places, and experiences we might otherwise never discover.

YL On The Air is more than a website—it's a place to learn together.
